Baseball self-denial?

After years of being lorded over by Yankee fans one has to excuse me if I find the disconnect going on this season between the Yankee fan and the team’s performance nothing short of amazing. Hearing all the sports talk radio in New York beseiged by Yankee fans still confident they will somehow reach the post-season is akin to the denial of our current president.

How bad are the Yankees this year?

Well, as of the end of play today, the Pittsburgh Pirates have a better win/loss record then the Yankees - and I’m sure the fans in Pittsburgh aren’t kidding themselves that a wild card shot is in the offing.
